How many hours of sleep should a person have? There is no definite answer to this question. Sleep needs vary from one individual to the other. Some people may feel fresh even after 5-6 hours of sleep while the others may be drowsy even after 10-11 hours of sleeping. The key to understand ones sleep needs is that if you are feeling tired, drowsy during the day time and are unable to concentrate on your work, then probably you need more sleep.<br />

A good night sleep boosts the immune system and helps the body in fighting diseases. It is essential for the proper functioning of the central nervous system. People who are constantly sleep deprived are more prone to high blood pressure and diabetes.

The following are some common reasons that may lead to sleep deprivation:
1. Working long hours.
2. Stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine.
3. Light or noise in the sleep environment.
4. Stress and anxieties of work, relationships.
5. Excessive alcoholic drinks.
6. Illness, medications and drugs.

The above are just a few reasons that may trigger sleep problems. In addition to the above, an unhealthy diet and lack of proper sleep routine can also lead to disturbing sleep.

There are a number of sleep disorder treatments that are being constantly explored and researched that can aid good night sleep. These sleep disorder treatments vary from sleeping apparatus such as nasal caps (for reducing snoring) to sleep medications (herbal and chemical) and even surgery in certain cases. The following is a brief summarization of some common sleep disorder treatments.

1. Behavioral therapies: these are generally used in combination with medications to treat a number of sleep disorders such as insomnia. These therapies are to be inculcated in our daily routine and practiced everyday. These are relaxation techniques from physiotherapy, exercise postures, massages etc

2. Sleep Hygiene: These are habits that one can develop to be practiced before sleep. Having hot water bath before sleep, using firm mattress and clean sheets and ways to make the sleep environment more conducive to sleep. Listening to some soft music, some light reading or even taking a glass of warm milk before bed can help. Different habits work for different people.

3. Stimulus Control Therapy: In some cases of sleep disorder, people start disassociating with the bed and the sleeping environment. They find sofa or an armchair a more comfortable place for sound sleep. Thus, in other words, the bedroom and the associated things act as a negative stimulus for sleep. In such cases, people are encouraged to overcome such feelings by the use of cognitive thinking. Using bed only for sleeping and not as a place of watching TV or eating is emphasized.

4. Over-the-Counter-Medicines (OTC): There are a number of OTC drugs available for the treatment of insomnia and other sleep related disorders. These medications are also used as pain killers or for cough and cold. These contain sedatives or suppressants that slow down the activity of the central nervous system. These may be a good choice for instant relief but should not be continued longer. Persons taking OTC medicines should not forget to mention their physician about the same as they can contain certain ingredients that may have an adverse effect.

5. Melatonin: Melatonin is a natural hormone produced by the pineal gland of the brain. This helps in maintaining the body clock and the sleep-wake cycles. Melatonin production normally decreases with age. Its supplement is available and is known to be a good choice for insomnia. However, a study shows that a week’s use of melatonin has the same effect as continued for three months or so. Also, people who have a lower production of melatonin are known to have benefited with melatonin supplements. People with sufficient production of the hormone continue to have sleep problems despite use of melatonin.

6. Herbal medications: As the chemical combinations in the medicines are known to have adverse side effects on human beings, the trend of herbal medicines is growing. Valerian, kava kava, chamomile are certain herbs that are known to relax the body and reduce stress.

Sleep disorders can be very disturbing as it directly affects our performance whether at work or at school. Prolonged sleep problems can create havoc in one’s daily life. Hence they must not be ignored. Treatments of sleeping disorders can vary, depending on the specific sleep disorder, but these are certainly helpful.

Everyone suffers from an occasional nightmare or sleepless night, but millions of Americans suffer from extremely severe sleep disorders that can negatively affect their health if left untreated. In fact, ninety-five percent of people suffering from such a disorder remain undiagnosed.

This staggering number means that a huge population of people aren’t getting the treatment they need. In this article, we’ll talk about sleep disorders to help you decide if you need medical help.

There are over one hundred different types of its disorders that can be classified into four categories. Insomnias include difficulty falling and staying asleep. Narcolepsy and apnea are examples of disorders that prevent people from staying awake. People suffering from jet lag or those who have trouble sleeping because of shift work are having a disturbance in their sleep/wake cycle.

People who experience sleepwalking or enuresis are experiencing interruptions associated with behavioral problems. Any condition in which your sleep doesn’t follow the typical phase cycle or doesn’t stay in each cycle for a sufficient period of time is a disruptive disorder.

Those who have disrupted sleep tend to not experience “restorative sleep.” Sleep deprivation can make you irritable, tired, have less focus, a lower frustration level, and can lead to exhibiting behavior that’s more emotional and impulsive. One dangerous fact about sleeping disorders is that they weaken the immune system and make us more susceptible to other diseases like diabetes, cancer and even the common cold.

It is not uncommon for people who suffer from its deprivation due to disorders such as apnea, narcolepsy and insomnia to also suffer from other problems including diabetes, asthma or a second sleep disorder.

When gaining insight about sleep disorders, you will find that no one is immune. Many elderly people suffer from insomnia and often have to be put on medication for the condition. Some of the common disorders that affect children include night terrors, nightmares and bedwetting. Nearly seventy percent of women report that they suffer from some type of sleep disorder.

Similarly, over forty percent of women admit that daytime sleepiness disrupts their daily activities. Although menopausal and pregnant women are far more likely to suffer from such a disorder, women are two times more likely than men to experience a malady of this kind.

A restless night can result in more than just daytime sleepiness, so it’s crucial to seek medical attention if you aren’t sleeping for an extended period of time. Your doctor can provide a wealth of treatment options or refer you to organizations that know more about sleep disorders. No matter which course of treatment you choose, your quality of life will definitely improve once you start getting some quality shut eye.

Sleep apnea is a condition that causes a person to stop breathing for short periods of time during their sleep. The most effective way to treat this condition is with continuous positive airway pressure, also known as CPAP.
Help answer the question about sleep disorders
Does anybody know about sleep disorders when first starting MMT?
I started MMT almost a week ago and have not been able to sleep for more than 45min – 1hr at a time. I wake up all through the night and can't go back to sleep for about 30min or so. Yesterday I did take a 1 and 1/2 hr nap. But that's been about it. I am really really tired. Should this go away soon?

I f you think you may have a sleep disorder, your primary doctor or a doctor that specializes in sleep disorders may send you to a sleep center for diagnosis. There are a large number of sleep centers located across the United States and their numbers are increasing. Sleep centers in the United States must be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

When a person goes to a sleep center, it is usually for an overnight stay. Costs involved for most sleep study tests range from one to three thousand dollars and many need to be repeated twice. The first visit to diagnose the sleep disorder and the second to get accurate settings for any PAP machines that may be needed. Health insurance generally pays all or most of the cost of the tests needed to diagnose a sleep disorder.

Once an appointment has been made, many sleep centers send a sleep diary to the patient. The information from the sleep diary is used by the doctors to understand general sleeping patterns. It is also recommended that no caffeine or alcohol be consumed after 12:00 p.m. on the day of the scheduled test.

Generally the patient packs an overnight bag just as if they were going to stay at a hotel overnight. During the sleep study you wear your own nightclothes and you can use a favorite pillow from home. You can bring a book or magazine if you like to read before falling to sleep. Most sleep centers resemble a hotel room and have a television to watch if that is what the patient usually does before going to sleep at home. Once you are relaxed the sleep center technician starts preparation for the equipment needed to record your patterns of sleep.

Diagnosis from a sleep center study is made using polysomnography which records a continual record of your sleep. In order to take a specific reading slightly more than two dozen small thin electrodes are pasted to specific parts of your body. They are placed under your chin, on your scalp, near your eyes and nose, on your finger, chest and legs, and also over the rib muscles and on the abdomen. These electrodes then record various types of readings during the night. Often an audio and video tape are also made to monitor sleep noises and movement.

Once all the equipment is in place the sleep technician leaves you alone to fall asleep. Even with all the equipment it is not uncomfortable. It is easy to move or turn onto your side. Each bedroom in a sleep center also has an automatic intercom so it is easy to call the technician if needed for such things as a bathroom break. When the sleep study is completed, the technician may wake you. Most studies that are used to diagnose a sleep disorder take seven to eight hours.

The reading are collected on a computer file called a polysonagram and are monitored and analyzed by the sleep technician during the night. The results are then sent for further readings to determine if there is a sleep disorder.

Although a sleep study may not sound comfortable, it is very important to determine and treat any sleep disorder.

Sleep disorders are frustrating problems for many people. A lack of sleep, beyond making you tired, can cause other disorders as well, such as depression and anxiety.

Many people don’t recognize sleep disorders as a major problem so they try to take over the counter sleep medicine to do the trick. Sleep disorders are serious and will not be remedied by over the counter medicine.

If you toss and turn each night before you are finally able to fall asleep, you are not alone. Altogether, approximately 60 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders. Forty million suffer from chronic sleep disorders, while another 20 million suffer from occasional, milder sleep irregularities.

Distinguishing The Types Of Sleep Disorders

There are three distinct categories that sleep conditions are typically categorized by. These categories are:

* lack of sleep,
* disturbed sleep
* excessive sleep.

Each category describes the amount of good rest the person affected gets in relation to how much they need. The average adult needs six to nine hours of sleep a night. I have found that the amount of sleep required depends on the individual and what amount of rest makes them feel and function their best every day.

The first category of sleep disorders, lack of sleep, is also commonly known as insomnia. It is not uncommon to experience insomnia occasionally; however, if it occurs often, then it may be a sign of a chronic sleep disorder. Failing to get the proper amount of sleep can disrupt daily life in many ways. Many people who suffer from insomnia worry during the day about not being able to fall asleep, which can contribute to the problem.

There are many consequences of insomnia. Lack of quality rest is known to impact judgment, memory, hand-eye coordination, well-being, and reaction-time. Additionally, sleep deprivation can damage the immune system.

Disturbed sleep is the second classification of sleep disorders, and it describes the disruption of normal rest. The most common type of sleep disorder classified in this category is obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is caused either by a problem with the windpipe or a neurological disorder, and it results in loud snoring and blocked airways. This sleep disorder can cause a stroke.

Other types of sleep disorders that can be categorized as “disturbed sleep” include Restless Leg Syndrome and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. Both are genetic disorders that cause involuntary movement in the arms and legs throughout the night.

Excessive Sleep

Finally, sleep disorders can be classified in the category “excessive sleep.” This is also known as narcolepsy. Narcolepsy causes patients to have sleep attacks, lasting for as little as a few minutes to as long as half an hour.

Complications of narcolepsy include cataplexy and hypnagogic hallucinations. Cataplexy is weakness or paralysis of the muscles, and hypnagogic hallucinations are vivid dreams that occur during the stage in between being awake and being asleep.

If you suffer from any type of sleep disorder, you should consult with your doctor to determine what form of treatment would be best for you. Inquire about natural treatments as there are natural remedies for sleep disorders as well as prescription medication.

Doctors can determine whether you need medication or not for your sleep disorder. They can also recommend discussion groups that you can turn to for support from others who suffer from sleep disorders.

(I know this is a sleep disorder because I found it once and now can't remember what it was).
I am not talking about sleep deprivation. I'm talking about regular and normal hours of sleep, such as 10-6 or 11-7 every night.
I think it may be part of "Advanced Sleep Phase Syndrome." Anyone heard of this before? (I have Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, the opposite of what I'm talking about here).

Only those of us that suffer or have suffered from sleep depravation can truly understand what it’s like to try and think and function as a human being running on half steam. There are so many causes for sleeplessness that there is no cure-for-all remedy or treatment. However, so long as you can identify the root cause of your problem, you will be in a much better position to find the right treatments, cures, and remedies for your condition.<br />

One of the more common yet most overlooked causes for insomnia is simply because folks have gotten themselves into bad sleep patterns. By this I mean going to bed at a different time every night, staying up all night and sleeping all day at the weekends, and basically just not practicing any kind of sleep routine.

People who develop a consistent routine of waking up and going to bed at the same time everyday, (even at the weekends), often find they can say goodbye to their lack of sleep once and for all, and once again, they are able to function normally during the daylight hours. If you have problems sleeping, you might want to take a look at your sleep pattern.

People who worry a lot often find they take their woes to be with them, and this can keep us tossing and turning all night long. My grandmother used to say, “You die if you worry, and you die if you don’t! So why worry?” Okay so that’s easier said than done, but if this is you then you really should try not to take your worries to bed with you. After all, you can’t do everything at once, and whatever it is that’s keeping you awake will be there in the morning whether you sleep or not. Be good to yourself and try to live in the moment as much as possible.

There are many great books on how to live in the ‘now’ and some folks find that by adopting some of the suggestions outlined in these publications, they are able to get their sleep back on track.

One friend of mine that used to suffer greatly from insomnia found a simple yet powerful bedtime ritual which has helped him sleep like a log ever since. Before he puts his head on the pillow at night he asks himself 2 questions. 1. “Did I deliberately upset or hurt anyone today?” and, 2. “Did I do anything to deliberately upset or hurt myself today?”

But even if he answers ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, he promises himself that he’ll try harder to be more tolerant and compassionate towards himself and others tomorrow. Simple, yet effective way of clearing the mind of any wrongdoing, and it’s quite often this latent and subconscious shame or guilt that we carry around which keeps many of us awake at night. Sound daft? Try it! You could be pleasantly surprised by the results.

There are many treatments and remedies for sleeplessness, some good, some not so good, and other which are just pure poppycock, and it’s important to note that what works for one may not work for another. Finding a cure for ‘your’ sleep problem is first identifying the cause, and then practicing a few of the suggested treatments and remedies.

Some of the more simple solutions for mild sleep disorders include exercising in the afternoon, drinking warm milk or other warm bedtime beverage before going to sleep, avoiding anything too mentally stimulating during the evening hours, and just getting into the habit of going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.

Getting the proper amount of sleep is very important to the human body. When you do not get the proper amount of sleep every day, you could suffer from a number of different problems, some severe.

The average person spends one third of their life sleeping. If you do not get enough sleep, concentration levels and response times may suffer.

Sleep disorders are very common, and can develop in anyone at any time. They can be caused by many different reasons, however all forms of sleeping disorders can be treated. It is important that you get a diagnosis from a medical professional.

When a person suffers from a sleep disorder, it affects their everyday life. There are many causes as to why we have sleeping problems, which contribute to the severity. Believe it or not, when you sleep in a dirty room, it is difficult to get a good night sleep. Whether it is dusty or just smelly try cleaning up and see if you sleep better.

Another contributor to sleep disorders is caffeine. If you drink coffee or soda late at night, you can develop irregular sleep patterns.

The symptoms of sleep disorders are relatively easy to recognize. If you feel like you need to take a nap halfway through the day or your response time slows down, you may not be getting enough sleep. Another symptom that indicates that you have a sleep disorder is that you are irritable.

Seeking medical attention is the only way that you will know for sure that you have a disorder. The doctor will take into consideration your symptoms, gender, lifestyle and psychological history. These all play an important part in diagnosing sleep disorders. Your physician may recommend that you keep a record of your day to day habits, including diet, and sleep schedule.

There are methods of treating sleeping disorders that have been around for decades. If you know what your sleep cycle is you are more likely to get the proper amount of sleep.

Set a reasonable bedtime and stick to it every night. Do not drink anything including water after a certain time each night. Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages at night as these are stimulants and will keep you awake.

Try to do some light exercises or taking a walk in the evening, this will assist in eliminating built up stress and tire you out quicker so you will be able to sleep. If you suffer from these disorders, it is important that you understand that you are not alone. Millions of people around the world share the same disorder to some degree. There are support groups to help those who are afflicted to deal with their sleep disorders. They share with the group what works for them and what does not.

Summary:

Sleep disorders can affect every aspect of your life. It is important that you talk to your physician before taking any medications to come up with a strategy to help you get a good night sleep. Speaking to your doctor will also give you the peace of mind knowing that your disorder can be treated.

The Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder is a problem that has been taken into issue ever since a set of teenagers have been showing symptoms of being affected by this. The teenagers generally outgrow this problem once they are nearing their adulthood. DSP is present in less than 1% of the adults of today. Often, this kind of a sleep disorder is assumed to be insomnia.

When people are left to their own, they tend to sleep very late. They stay up till about 4 or even 5 in the morning before they hit the bed. This makes them wake up late in the morning, or even early in the afternoon. These are the kind of people who are referred to as nocturnals.

There are a lot of teenagers that stays up till the early hours of morning. They also admit that they are socializing only during those weird hours of the day. Due to such malpractices, the rhythm of the body tends to get disrupted, and they also face other problems later.

Many teenagers who are facing this kind of a sleep disorder generally make it late to school, because they find it very hard to wake up early in the morning. If they take one particular time to go and sleep, say at 11pm, then, they might not be able to sleep, and they will be moving on the bed uncomfortably, and they find it hard to sleep. They will in turn have a very hard time to wake up for school or college early in the morning. These kinds of students have a problem concentrating in the classroom, and then, they tend to fall asleep. The reason for such a sleeping disorder is still unknown. This is due to the problem with the circadian rhythm in the body.

There are other treatments available for such a sleeping disorder. The people suffering from such problem must start following a particular sleeping method. This is the treatment that includes even taking sleeping pills, and sleeping with bright light, and also chronotherapy.

In case of the bright light treatment for all the sleep related problems, the bright light is used to kick start the circadian clock in the brain. This kind of exposure to bright light will tick off the circadian rhythm.

Chronotherapy is a treatment that is administered to people who have not had good sleep for over a week, and finding it hard to sleep. Their usual bedtime gets shifted by around three hours. In case a person sleeps at 2am, but wanted to sleep by 11pm, then, the sleep hours will move to 8am, from the usual 5am. So, this is the lifestyle for the last one week, then, it leads to a sleeping problem. In case a teenager student is facing such a situation, then, he might need almost a week off from school in order to complete this cycle successfully. Once the proper bedtime schedule has been worked on, the next thing you have to do is wake up at the right time.

There are other treatments available that involve many drugs that can be used to treat DSP. People suffering from sleep disorder are suggested to take Melatonin. Other prescriptions also suggest medications in the form of Ramelteon, and there are other sleeping pills too.

In case you are a teenager and having a trouble to fall off asleep, then, you need to make sure that things are brought back into order in your life.

Sleep is an ordinary routine for us all. It is an essential part in living as it contributes both to our physical and mental state. However, for those with sleeping disorders such as sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome, sleeping doesn’t come as easy as it normally should. There are treatments to counter sleeping disorders. Battling sleeping disorders, though, take time and patience.

Sleeping disorders may occur because of anxiety, physical pain, or a change in lifestyle (shift work change). Environmental noise can also contribute to sleeping poorly. Medications and drugs can also be factors. Sleeping poorly will lead to sleep debt, which is the effect of not getting enough rest and sleep. Sleep debt can cause mental and physical fatigue, and may ruin your personal and professional life.

To battle sleeping disorders, it is important to understand the cause of the disorder and to understand what sort of treatments you have to take. Sleep disorders vary in nature and degree. The worst of the sleeping disorders are dyssomnias or insomnia, hypersomnia (disorders of excessive sleepiness), and parasomnias or having abnormal behaviors during sleep.

Treatments for sleeping disorders also varies, from changes in your life style to taking in different medications. There is one thing that matters when treating all sleeping disorders, though, and that is to stick to a routine for sleeping. This routine will basically cover the following tips:

- Going to bed only when you get sleepy

- Sleeping time and waking time should be routinary and constant

- Don’t drink alcohol, or drinks with caffeine in the evening

- Exercise daily and improve on your physical activities

- Take a break and relax from time to time

- Condition your bedroom that it would be comfortable for you to sleep in (bed, room temperature, etc.)

- Close windows, remove distractions, and don’t bring in work in your bedroom to have a quiet sleep

- Take a hot or warm bath before going to sleep

- Eat early in the evening and don’t eat too late at night

- Take a night stroll or do some stretching exercises to relax your muscles

- Drink warm milk or some herbal teas

- Have a massage to get your body to relax

- Take calcium and magnesium supplements before bedtime

Stick to whichever tips from the list above and perform them on a daily basis. Making them routine in your life can contribute to a routine sleep in the future.

Many health organizations maintain that a person has to sleep around eight to nine hours to achieve optimal sleep benefits, including alertness, memory enhancement and problem and solving, overall health improvement, and a reduction in risks of accidents. Studies have shown that sleeping less than eight hours results in a decline in cognitive performances. There is also a study concerning a person’s mortality rate wherein experts insist on sleeping six to seven hours each night.

More studies show that either the lack of sleep or too much of it can contribute to cardiovascular diseases, weight issues, and death. Weight gain, hypertension, diabetes are some of the problems associated with sleeping less and more than six to seven hours every night.

Keeping in mind these simple tips and information, battling your sleeping disorder is possible. Even with the amount of time needed for it to be treated, the end result is that you will be able to finally sleep without any trouble.

 “Bedwetting? Don’t worry, he’ll outgrow it…”

When “your baby” doesn’t outgrow bed-wetting

Bedwetting may not seem as serious as juvenile diabetes or a heart defect. But to Sam’s family, the sleep disorder that caused his enuresis proved almost as dangerous as any life threatening-disease.

The pediatrician said Sam would outgrow his bedwetting. But at six years old, Sam was still waking up in the morning with wet sheets and a profound humiliation that even his loving parents could not displace. Forget about the inconvenience and extra laundry. That was nothing compared to Sam’s diminishing self-esteem and his parents’ guilt about “letting him down.” Shouldn’t they as adults be able to solve this seemingly simple problem? Why wasn’t their love enough? Then one night, they realized that their inability to solve his bed-wetting was putting Sam in the gravest of physical danger.

On a trip to Colorado, the family stayed in a second story motel room. In the middle of the night, Sam was found outside on the balcony. Alone. Like so many other nights he had wet the bed. But this time, he was more than a bedwetter. He was a sleepwalker. Terrified about what could have happened, his parents decided that the ineffective “bedwetting treatments,” drugs, psychiatrists and waiting for Sam to outgrow bedwetting—were just not good enough!

They wanted to believe the doctor who assured them that Sam would outgrow enuresis. But what if he got hurt in the meantime? As the bed-wetting (and now sleepwalking) continued, Sam withdrew into himself at school and became more and more detached from his loving family. He was inconsolable.

Conducting one desperate Internet search after another, Sam’s parents finally found the Enuresis Treatment Center (www.nobedwetting.com). They “met” with Barbara Moore — the center’s director. By phone, Barbara helped the family understand that Sam’s problem was a sleep disorder, not about his bladder or anything they were doing wrong. Treatment began immediately. Sam’s personal counselor – Maryanne – set up appointments through email and phone calls and worked with the family every step of the way, bringing hope and results into their lives. Because they know at the Enuresis Treatment Center that each bedwetter is unique, a tailored program was developed just for Sam. It included bio-feedback and NO medication. Together with counseling, this protocol ended his vicious cycle of bedwetting and sleepwalking. In three months, both bedwetting and sleepwalking significantly decreased. In five months, Sam was no longer a bedwetter. He uttered three words his parents longed to hear: “I feel normal.” Now Sam has the potential to experience all the happiness and success his parents have wished for him. And they feel they have fulfilled their responsibilities as loving parents, thanks to the Enuresis Treatment Center (www.nobedwetting.com). To stop bedwetting for someone you love, contact www.nobedwetting.com. From the US, call 1-800-379-2331.
www.soundsleephealth.com Many people suffer from mild to severe sleep problems. These sleep disorders can have a big impact on your health. In most cases, sleep disorders are very treatable. Learn how to choose a quality sleep center.
Help answer the question about sleep disorders center
Why can't I wake up in the morning, even after a full night's sleep?
ive ben dealing with this problem for about 5 years now, it has just gotten worse and worse. For me, getting up after one hour of sleep is just as difficult as getting up after 10 hours of sleep. Sometimes i can sleep a full 24 hours for no reason, and when i wake up im still so incredibly fatigued and worn out i just keep sleepnig.

The extreme fatigue in the morning has caused me to miss many things, appointments, feild trips, ect. Eventually it started ruining my school life. It got to the point where i could not get into school one full day a week, i would average about 2 to 3 days in 3 or 4 hours late, but never in on time. I have talked to many psychiatrists and a sleep specialist neither could figure it out.

I am now on sleeping medication which helps me fall asleep (something else thats difficult for me) but its still just as difficult to wake up. Because of my attendance my only option was to get a GED and get out of high school before i was sent to a juvinile detention center for truency.

Ive been working incredibly hard to fix this for quite some time now.
Its not how much sleep i get, its not the medication im taking, its not sleep apnea, and its much more crippling than delayed sleep phase disorder.

about 5 times in the past 4 years i have woken up from a normal night's sleep and felt completely well rested, the few times that has happened i felt like what i think everyone feels like after a normal nights sleep. i woke up at a normal time, no longer tired, completely refreshed and ready for the day. all the other days though are miserable, its really destroying many aspects of my life.

if you have any information on this, please respond,
i am almost 17, ive been having this problem since elementary school, id say it started in 5th grade.

Yes, you can rid yourself from those dreadful sleep disorders through insomnia cure. Often nicknamed, natural insomnia cure, the remedy through herbs and kitchen supplements that are often considered safe and secure. Likewise, unlike the usual over the counter medicines and the dreadful sleeping pills, natural insomnia cure remedies do not cost a dime and are therefore preferred by insomniacs from all walks of life.

Sleeping is not just another activity. According to science, it is one of the most significant bodily activities that help you keep fit, both physically and mentally. If you are not able to sleep properly then it will lead to problems. These problems can be as serious as accidents, health problems, and lack of concentration or problems in relationships. You will mostly feel irritated and disconnected from the world around you.

Sleep disorders seem to increase as we age. Common expressions like, I’ll sleep on it, suggest that people understand how important a good night’s sleep is to our emotional well being and overall health. Yet a recent Gallup poll that was given to senior citizens produced some disturbing results. 80 precent of the survey takers reported that they understood how important adequate sleep was to their health.

Some sleeping disorders need to be treated by a recognized sleep disorder center. If too much sleep or a lack of it is preventing you from functioning or pursuing activities that you enjoy, then keep reading. We’ll discuss some of the most common disorders and how they can be treated.

For people with chronic insomnia, behavioral treatment such as a change in lifestyle may be more effective than using medication. People with back and neck pain, a therapeutic massage may be the most practical method to reduce or eliminate pain thereby promoting better sleep. Narcolepsy is a condition in which a person falls asleep unexpectedly regardless of their surroundings. Medication may be a better solution to treat narcolepsy because it tends to be more of a physical condition instead of a psychological condition.

Sleep-related rhythmic movement disorder often sees the child seeking out a hard surface to rhythmically bang his or her head against upon waking, head rolling or rhythmically rolling their entire body. These movements are more common in infants and toddlers. Parent’s main concern is the child’s ability to hurt themselves. This can be avoided by placing padding around the sleeping area and listening carefully for the onset of the rhythmic banging or rolling to begin in order to prevent it from escalating.

One of the most common but potentially serious sleep disorders often characterized by snoring is sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a condition in which a person will stop breathing periodically during sleep, for ten second or longer intervals. While the person will start breathing again this causes a lack of oxygen getting to the body which can result in heart problems and potential mild brain damage.
